Domestic Violence : A Strange Perspective   Leave a comment

Introduction:
Violence has not been credited with anything that is good. In a society where violence prevails, progress will surely be retarded. Violence is a vice not only restricted to the larger society but it takes place in the home front. If violence does not benefit the society at large, it cannot be of value to any home.
In fact, homes are vital segments that form the society. This means that violence at home spreads to the other areas of the society.
Experience of women in domestic violence is not palatable at all.

Violence at home takes place among members of the family: the father, the mother and their children. Let me narrow this discussion to the violence against women because it seems to be the most reported of domestic violence. This has given rise to various laws being enacted to protect them.

Violence against women has caused various harms to them. Some have lost their lives through such vice that continues to spread these days.
No sane person will support domestic violence or any other form of it. It is totally to be condemned. It is wrong!

A woman many years ago was living with a man who seemed to derive joy in making a punching bag out of his wife. As much as he did this, the woman continued to live with him. Sometimes, they will engage each other in physical attacks to the extent that they would wound each other.

They would separate from one another as husband and wife.
Do you know what? This woman will still come back to the same man, a wife beater. She will tell anyone who cares to listen, “I love my husband and I am not ready to divorce him.”
There are many interpretations given to her words and actions. People can be right or wrong in their opinions.

An Exception.
The woman’s words and actions became clear to me in a recent disclosure by an elderly man of God who narrated a story he witnessed.

What was the story?

A woman who requested her husband to beat her regularly to please her in the early days of their marriage. She told the man that doing so will give her joy and his way will be prosperous.

Do you know what? A few years later, the man was blessed and comfortable to the extent that he distributed his goods will an aircraft. What a mystery?
I found it very difficult to believe.

How can a woman make such inordinate request when there are so many things to request from her husband. She knows better.
Believable? Do you know why the story is believable?

I remember the story of a man of God in the Scriptures who must be beaten to be able to prophesy.
“[35]Meanwhile, the lord instructed one of the group of prophets to say to another man, “Hit me!” But the man refused to hit the prophet.
[36]Then the prophet told him, “Because you have not obeyed the voice of the lord, a lion will kill you as soon as you leave me.” And when he had gone, a lion did attack and kill him.
[37]Then the prophet turned to another man and said, “Hit me!” So he struck the prophet and wounded him.” 1 Kings 20.

The fear of the first one who refused to hit the Prophet was Psalms 105:15
[15]“Do not touch my chosen people,
and do not hurt my prophets.”

Now, the source of a man’s inspiration was to “hit him”, Anyone who fails to do so will lose his life. Can you understand the mystery of life further? The second person the Prophet approached hit him until he wounded him. Why? To save his life because he was a witness of the death of someone who failed to do so.

Conclusion.
Now, which one is stronger and better to run a marriage, Law or Love? In the strange story above, the husband did not like to beat his wife. The law did not support it. The wife demanded it. What will the husband do if he wants to please his wife? Give her what she loves when she loves it. What will the Constitution do? To deny the woman her “fundamental human rights”?

Which is stronger and better: Love or Law?

Love or no love, law or no law, violence or no violence, do you remember that the Lord is coming soon? Let me leave you with the question, “Where will He meet you? Stay blessed and prepared for the coming of the Lord.

Relationship Seasoning 4.   Leave a comment

A relationship is compared with a meal into which many ingredients go, each playing its part. Like a meal, it can be sweet, delicious, sour or bitter. This has to do with the ingredients and the proportion added to it. This will dictate the end result.

The ingredient for discussion here is communication. No relationship can thrive without this. It is the oil of every association, no matter the form it might be. Communication must take place.

The moment there is a breakdown in communication, the relationship is already on the path of collapse without any remedy. I am not a chef but I think that many meals have some quantity of one form of oil or the other. One of such meals is a relationship.

Communication is the needed oil. Otherwise, what will follow is friction that will end in a breakdown of the whole affairs. The Psalmist of Israel gave a practical example of the need for exchange of words between people involved in a relationship. He presented his request before the Lord and demanded a type of reply thus,
“35:3 Draw out also the spear, and stop the way against them that persecute me: say unto my soul, I am thy salvation.” Psalm.

He wanted to be convinced that his prayers were answered. Can you see the need for communication in all affairs?
Do you know that the Lord God of Israel knows the importance and necessity of communication? When He was not pleased with the ways of His people, He raised a Prophet to speak on His behalf. His mouth piece revealed to them,
“1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
1:19 If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:

1:20 But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.” Isaiah.

He made His mind known to His people. He gave them options to choose from. Will they know what was in His mind if the Lord had remained silent? The importance of communication in a relationship cannot be over emphasized. As a oil, you need to employ it to straighten your relationship.

Without Deceit.
Let me not fail to state it here that a successful and valuable communication should be without deceit. Every relationship built on deceit will sooner or later come to a sad end. Deception can come from one person or both or many of the people involved. Deception is the style of satan to get what is valuable out of people’s lives. So it is with those who love to deceive others. The earlier the deceived knows the pranks of the deceiver, the better; he should back out of such relationship before more harms are done to him. Do you want your relationship to flourish? Let there be a sincere communication with truth, without any provision for deceit and it shall be well with you. Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord.

A Blessed Sinner?   Leave a comment

The words “Blessed Sinner.” were the inscription at the back of a young man’s garment. His words and walk displayed his pride in being a sinner who lacks nothing. He was putting on an attire of all black color. A sinner who is blessed. I saw this on the thirteen of July, twenty-twenty three.

It was not the words that worried me as such but the soul of the young man and that of his cohorts who are proud in their ignorance. Which ignorance? He and others like him are like a criminal who was sentenced to be executed but are rejoicing on the way to destruction.

Their thoughts are not in them only. The devil sometimes engage the heart of the righteous to think amiss. What do I mean? The righteous is, sometimes, envious of the seeming riches and wealth of the ungodly.

This was the case with the Song Writer in Psalm 73 when, according to him, he exhibited his foolishness verse 22. He was equating himself with the ungodly. There is no need for such comparison, even today. The ungodly and those who fear God are two parallel lines going to different directions and destinations.

The envious Psalmist finally reveals, “[26]My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak,
    but God remains the strength of my heart;
    he is mine forever.
[27]Those who desert him will perish,
for you destroy those who abandon you.
[28]But as for me, how good it is to be near God!
I have made the Sovereign Lord my shelter,
and I will tell everyone about the wonderful things you do.” Psalms 73, New Living Translation, NLT, of the Holy Bible.

Why should a Sinner be blessed? For the glory of God! How? While the sinner is busy flouting his riches around, the Lord may decide to use him for His growing Saints who may not be matured enough to handle riches and wealth. So, the right portions of the righteous and growing Saints will fall in place for them.

Not only that, at the appointed time, the Blessed Sinner will be eliminated for his possessions to be given to the righteous Saints.
His destruction will be sudden! Psalms 92 informs “[7]Though the wicked sprout like weeds
    and evildoers flourish,
    they will be destroyed forever.”

What will happen to what he left behind? The righteous Saints will take over to spend it for the glory of God.

Are you blessed as a sinner? Weep for yourself! It is because you are walking on a slippery terrain and your falling is sure; you may not know when that will be. Therefore, have a rethink! Acting independent of God will have grave consequences. You need to repent to have a perfect relationship with God and to retain your Blessings for long time and for the glory of the Lord.

It is possible that you are a Saint of Jesus Christ but you are surrounded by Blessed Sinners. With the wisdom of God, let them know that without repentance, there is a deep pit of destruction ahead. They should avoid falling into it. Let them know that they should not trust in their riches because they will not be able to save them on the day of wrath of God. Thanks and remain blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord.
