Value Your Servant 2   Leave a comment

Life is full of battles of various types, spiritual and physical. Some people are consumed in it while some people are overcomers. Some are not overcomers or consumed

become servants or slaves in the house of those who overcome them. This does not prevent them from placing value on them.

Reason?

The servant has a certain value(s) that can be of use in one form or another; now or in the future. This was the case with Naaman, a veteran warrior. As powerful as he was, he had a strong weakness, leprosy. His power could not conquer this.

A solution came from a young girl who was a captive. She had no power to fight battles which was why she became a captive in a strange land but she had a God who could health leprosy.
[3]One day the girl said to her mistress, “I wish my master would go to see the prophet in Samaria. He would heal him of his leprosy.” 2 King’s 5, New Living Translation, NLT.

When she made the suggestion available, the mistress and the master were not power-drunk or intoxicated by position. They listened to the words of the female captive. It was unsolicited advice but valuable and they took it to act on it.

Naaman was blessed with a network of valuable servants.

When his personal “policies and principles” wanted to destroy him at the point of healing, another servant came in. He had his assume method of healing his leprosy which contradicted that of God of Israel. When he wanted to depart in anger without following the Prophet Elisha’s instructions, his servant said, “2 Kings 5:13-14
[13]But his officers tried to reason with him and said, “Sir, if the prophet had told you to do something very difficult, wouldn’t you have done it? So you should certainly obey him when he says simply, ‘Go and wash and be cured!
[14]So Naaman went down to the Jordan River and dipped himself seven times, as the man of God had instructed him. And his skin became as healthy as the skin of a young child, and he was healed!”

He would have remained a leper throughout his life were it not for the valuable suggestions given to him by his servants.
What is your ailment spiritual, physical, or emotional? Do not underrate your servant’s suggestions. Value your servants and their valuable counsel. Let it be known that your position is not your making; it is by the grace of God. Do not arrogate any glory to yourself but give all glory to God in the highest. Those who are your servants are loaded with their God-given gifts. You can explore them by making yourself approachable and caring. Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord.
