Value Your Servant 2   Leave a comment

Life is full of battles of various types, spiritual and physical. Some people are consumed in it while some people are overcomers. Some are not overcomers or consumed

become servants or slaves in the house of those who overcome them. This does not prevent them from placing value on them.

Reason?

The servant has a certain value(s) that can be of use in one form or another; now or in the future. This was the case with Naaman, a veteran warrior. As powerful as he was, he had a strong weakness, leprosy. His power could not conquer this.

A solution came from a young girl who was a captive. She had no power to fight battles which was why she became a captive in a strange land but she had a God who could health leprosy.
[3]One day the girl said to her mistress, “I wish my master would go to see the prophet in Samaria. He would heal him of his leprosy.” 2 King’s 5, New Living Translation, NLT.

When she made the suggestion available, the mistress and the master were not power-drunk or intoxicated by position. They listened to the words of the female captive. It was unsolicited advice but valuable and they took it to act on it.

Naaman was blessed with a network of valuable servants.

When his personal “policies and principles” wanted to destroy him at the point of healing, another servant came in. He had his assume method of healing his leprosy which contradicted that of God of Israel. When he wanted to depart in anger without following the Prophet Elisha’s instructions, his servant said, “2 Kings 5:13-14
[13]But his officers tried to reason with him and said, “Sir, if the prophet had told you to do something very difficult, wouldn’t you have done it? So you should certainly obey him when he says simply, ‘Go and wash and be cured!
[14]So Naaman went down to the Jordan River and dipped himself seven times, as the man of God had instructed him. And his skin became as healthy as the skin of a young child, and he was healed!”

He would have remained a leper throughout his life were it not for the valuable suggestions given to him by his servants.
What is your ailment spiritual, physical, or emotional? Do not underrate your servant’s suggestions. Value your servants and their valuable counsel. Let it be known that your position is not your making; it is by the grace of God. Do not arrogate any glory to yourself but give all glory to God in the highest. Those who are your servants are loaded with their God-given gifts. You can explore them by making yourself approachable and caring. Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord.

Worship Only God!   Leave a comment

The title of this write-up is a wise counsel given by an Angel of God to a faithful man of God, John the beloved. The counsel was not solicited by the man of God but the one who knew better gave it because the man of God did not know the gravity of his action.

What happened between them?

As a faithful man of God, John was privileged to be shown great and uncommon visions that form the book of Revelation in the Holy Bible. This became possible because he was spiritually receptive.

After the assignment, he chose to appreciate the Angel by bowing to worship him. The Angel was not ready to share from the glory of God who had given him the grace to make John know and understand what was about to happen.

The Scriptures reveal,
“[8]I, John, am the one who heard and saw all these things. And when I heard and saw them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who showed them to me.
[9]But he said, “No, don’t worship me. I am a servant of God, just like you and your brothers the prophets, as well as all who obey what is written in this book. Worship only God!” Revelation 22. New Living Translation, NLT.

From the foregoing, the Angel made it known that he was not better than John. He was a servant of God as John. They were both serving the same God. So, He who sent them on assignment should be worshipped.

In the same vein, the Angel saw himself as a colleague of Faithful Prophets everywhere. So, no Prophet should worship an Angel, no matter the circumstances. It is equivalent to serving another God, this is idol worshipping.

To crown it all, The Angel revealed that he was a servant like any other fellow who obey the Scriptures. So, all those who serve God fearfully and faithfully are co-workers with Angels of God.

Let me draw your attention to another truth revealed in the assertion of the Angel. What can this be? If Apostle John could attempt to worship an Angel as close as he was to the Lord during and after His Ministry on the Earth, can you escape doing same? Whatch! You can appreciate other people of God who have been used mightily of God for you but do not worship them. They are your colleagues working together for the Lord, your God. They are instruments in the hands of God for you. If they fall to perform their God-given duty for you, be convinced that God has alternatives. He has other servants to use.

Also, pay attention to the truth that when God uses you to be of great help or use to your fellow men, they may want to worship you but refuse that from them. If they don’t know, let them know that they should Worship Only God.
Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord.
